Rust Never Sleeps

I have been wanting to stop by this abandoned muffler shop for a long time. The sign and it's misspelling was the original attraction, however, once I parked in their run down parking lot, overgrown with weeds, and saw up close all the wonderful ugliness waiting to be captured with my cell phone, I almost forgot to take a picture of the sign.

Needless to say, today's winner was not the sign, but a closeup of a metal pole. Several layers of paint was peeling away and rust was taking over. I was fascinated.

Today's shot can be seen on my http://www.365project.org page.

Not sure how this never published yesterday, but I caught it and now I'm sharing it for real.

Grounded due to fog

I hate driving in fog. For the past several years, I would dread days like this. I have to take my son to school and it's a half hour drive in one direction. I do not like driving unless conditions are optimum (dry roads, clear sunny skies, and no traffic anywhere in sight).

But today I was excited to see the fog. Yes I drove in it and didn't like that part one bit, but I couldn't wait to head down to the river. The pictures I can get there with foggy conditions are tranquil and often magical or surreal. Today was no exception.

I love shopping

Even if it is the grocery store, I find so much stuff to photograph! I don't know what I did for entertainment before my cell phone camera.

I know it's still early, but I'm probably not going to get any better shots today.

This first shot is from inside the car, through the dew on the windshield, pointing back at the porch light as I waited for my son to come out so I could drive him to school.

Down by the river

We are up early today as school starts back up after Christmas vacation. Even though it was hard to drag myself away from the warm cocoon of my covers, the shots I got down by the river on the way home made up for it.

It's only 9a.m. but I've already gotten the shot of the day and here are all the second bests. I love them all. What a great way to remember the year. I hope I can discipline myself to stick with this. Maybe I'm so excited because I got to photograph something outside of the yard for a change. Whatever it is, I'm feeling good about these.

The house in the first few shots is for sale so my plan, if anyone caught me walking around photographing it, was to say I was interested. I was, just not in buying it. Today's winner, which is up on www.365project.org, came from the shots of this house. You can see it here: http://365project.org/signsintime/365/2013-01-07

These shots are down at the public boat ramp, one of my favorite places to stop.

This is one of the many murals that grace our downtown area. This one was only partially completed for what seemed like years. They finally finished it and I got to get a shot this morning. I call it Vanishing Point Mural. lol
